What I do For

Adolescents

I am dedicated to supporting adolescents experiencing trauma, bullying, and other difficulties. I understand that adolescence can be a difficult and confusing time, and that many young people experience traumatic events or struggle with mental health issues during this period. That's why I am here to provide a safe and supportive space for these individuals to gain skills in understanding themselves, healing from negative experiences, and recovering from the challenges they face.

My focus is to help adolescents overcome the obstacles in their lives and provide a range of services, including counselling, and support groups, that are tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. I believe that every young person has the potential to overcome their difficulties and thrive, and I am committed to helping them do just that.

One of the key components of my approach is helping adolescents develop a deep understanding of who they are. 

Get ready for an incredible 5-week journey with our “Bounce Back” program. It’s like a slam dunk for your mind and heart!

I’m Janelle, your coach and friend. Guess what? I was a state player in basketball when I was your age, and I even became a certified Queensland and Australian basketball coach.

So, I know a thing or two about bouncing back and scoring big in life!

This isn’t just about dribbling and shooting hoops. It’s about finding a safe place where you can connect, keep your body and mind fit, and boost your mental game. We’re going to tackle some tough stuff like trauma and breaking free from bad cycles, but we’ll do it together, as a team.

Here’s what we’re going to do:

            1.         Learn About Trauma: We’ll explore how tough experiences can change us and how we can change them back.

            2.         Break the Cycle: We’ll figure out patterns that keep us stuck and slam dunk some new, positive ways to deal with them. This is super important if you’ve faced some really hard times like family issues or tough situations at home.

            3.         Skills for the Win: You’ll learn how to spot when you’re feeling down or stressed and what to do about it. Plus, we’ll talk about how to avoid things that can make you feel worse.

            4.         Hoops and Healing: Through basketball, we’ll build friendships and confidence and learn cool skills that you can use in life, not just on the court.

I’ve been through some tough matches myself, both on and off the court. I’ll show you how you can turn a bad game around. We’re going to have fun, learn a lot, and maybe even shoot some three-pointers for our mental health!
